SPICEWOOD, Texas — This week, neighbors can voice their concerns about a proposed rock crushing quarry coming to the Spicewood area, about 40 minutes west of downtown Austin.
Spicewood Crushed Stone, LLC would be built on a plot of several hundred acres of land between the Doublehorn Estates and Spicewood Trails off Highway 71. Some neighbors in the neighborhoods said they don't want to see a new rock quarry built nearby.

They worry it will cause extra traffic and that it will create extra noise. They're also concerned about what it could do to their health.
"I'm concerned about my children getting exposed to this, and also I have asthma. I'm concerned about what it'll do with my lungs as I get older," said Robin Mayfield, a neighbor.
The Texas Commission on Environmental Quality is holding a public hearing on Thursday at 7 p.m. It's happening at the Lakeside Pavilion in Marble Falls.
