SAN ANGELO, Texas — After being in business for more than 50 years, The Original Henry's restaurant in San Angelo will be expanding its parking lot.

The popular Mexican eatery can hold up to 500 customers at one time and the new parking spaces will allow for easier customer accessibility.

"People in the community are excited about it, they really are," manager Douglas Lawhon said. "They've been wanting it for years and we decided let's just do it."

Owners Henry Hogeda Jr. and Rosa Torres purchased an old building for storage a few years ago, but it has fallen apart more recently, according to Lawhon.

The new lot will be in the same place where the storage building once stood, and approximately 40 new parking spots will be available to customers. Currently when the lot is all filled up, Henry's customers find themselves parking somewhere across the street.

This issue should be eliminated once the new lot is built.

Construction is currently underway and the lot should be completed in a couple of weeks.
