ABILENE, Texas — Its Summer time and that means mosquitoes.

Mosquito season runs from May to November and tends to calm down as the weather does according to Environment Investigator Terrance Reid.

The team treats parks and fields around town with larvacide tablets- in an attempt to keep mosquitoes from laying their eggs on stagnant water that comes after a good rainfall.

"Anything that collects rain is going to bring mosquitoes, basically we are killing them while they are young before they turn into adult mosquitoes" said Reid.

According to Environmental Manager Terri Auger, the tablets are a safer alternative to spraying for mosquitoes which involves an adulticide which is a harsh chemical.

The health Services desk has a limited supply of OFF and larvicide for the public.
