CBP seized over 19 pounds of crystal meth in Progreso.

PROGRESO, TX — Press Release from CBP: “Officers with U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP), Office of Field Operations (OFO) at the Progreso International Bridge seized over 19 pounds of alleged crystal methamphetamine Monday evening.

“Intercepting illegal drugs from entering the Unites States is one of CBP’s top priorities,” said Port Director Walter Weaver, Progreso Port of Entry. “I applaud the officers for their continued vigilance as they intercepted and prevented these dangerous narcotics from not only entering the country, but our communities.”

The seizure occurred on Monday evening, April 9, when CBP officers at the Progreso International Bridge referred a vehicle driven by a 19-year-old male United States citizen from Austin, Texas for a secondary inspection. In secondary, a CBP canine alerted to the vehicle. Officers subsequently discovered 19.09 pounds of alleged crystal methamphetamine concealed within the vehicle’s interior. The estimated street value of the seized narcotics is $381,837.

CBP OFO seized the narcotics and the vehicle. The man was arrested and turned over to the custody of Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) special agents for further investigation.”
