Fox’s So You Think You Can Dance kicks off its fourteenth season with host Cat Deeley and judges Nigel Lythgoe, Vanessa Hudgens and Mary Murphy.

“There’s definitely more fusion, and I think fusions are happening mainly because of So You Think You Can Dance” Murphy said.

“The standard, again, is raised. The bar has been raised yet again, even in the hip-hop styles,” Lythgoe said.

“I have been dancing since I was three-years-old, and I was the girl in the dance class who actually knew the choreography and everyone else would follow me,” Hudgens said. “But it’s just something I hold very dear to my heart, and I think it’s such an amazing platform.”

Deeley talked about the show’s loyal fans.

“It doesn’t matter who you are or what you do or how old you are, our show, the entire family can sit down on the couch and watch it together and everyone will get something out of it.”

It takes more than fancy footwork to impress this group of judges!

“Performance, I’m interested in. Technique, obviously. You don’t have to be brilliant in technique if I believe you can go on ‘cause So You Think You Can Dance is a bit of a journey,” Lythgoe said.

“The dancer has to bring that music to life through amazing choreography,” Hudgens said. “And when all those three things come into play and someone has a great stage presence and charisma and wrap that into a nice package, you’ll be crying or screaming or [giving a] standing ovation.”
