SAN ANGELO, Texas — The Bobcats and Chiefs have new leaders for their bands. The San Angelo Independent School District announced the new hires in a press release Thursday.

Central High School's newest band director, Jason Jones, comes to San Angelo from Burnet Independent School District, where he was the director of bands at Burnet High School. Prior to Burnet, Jones was the director of bands at Early and Panhandle high schools.

Jones previously lived in San Angelo while attending Angelo State University, before transferring to Howard Payne University. His wife, Amber Jones, will serve as the music teacher at Belaire Elementary School.

“I am so excited to become a part of the SAISD family and continue the success of the Central High School Band!” Jones said in the press release. “I can’t wait to get started in August and meet all these awesome students!”

The Lake View High School Chiefs are welcoming Joshua Bailey as the new band director. Bailey comes to the SAISD from Jim Ned Consolidated ISD where he served as band director at Tuscola High School from 2017-2019.

Previously, Bailey taught Pre-K through 12th grade music and band at Rotan ISD.

Bailey is from Tuscola and attended Jim Ned schools from kindergarten through 12th grade.
