Sales tax revenue is up in San Angelo. In other words the money the City gets from the state sales tax has increased. The City has seen a steady rise the last 8 months as more people shop locally.
Finance Director for the city Tina Dierschke says although revenue is up the city is not considering it a trend yet as there are many factors that go into how much money the city, county and development corporation get.
Tina says, “we're kind of watching closely how online sales might be affecting our local sales tax revenue and the state is watching that as well.”
She says the more sales that are made within the city, the more money San Angelo gets from sales tax revenue.
