San Angelo woman killed in two-vehicle crash near Midland

A 29-year-old San Angelo woman was killed in a two-vehicle crash Friday morning on State Hwy 158 near Midland.

MIDLAND COUNTY, Texas — A  29-year-old San Angelo woman died in a two-vehicle collision near Midland Friday morning.

According to a preliminary crash report from the Texas Department of Public Safety, Lacy M. Connell of San Angelo died in the crash.

The report states Connell was traveling on State Highway 158, seven miles east of Midland, in a 2018 Nissan Titan, a short distance behind a 2018 Western Star truck, driven by Ted Chavez, 39, of Edcouch. Connell failed to control speed and struck Chavez's vehicle from behind, the report states.

Connell was transported to Midland Memorial Hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

Chavez was not injured. His passenger, Roberto J. Flores, 52, of El Paso, was transported to Midland Memorial and treated for non-incapacitating injuries.
