State and Defense both rest and close in sentencing phase for Isidro Delacruz

The sentencing phase for the trial of Isidro Delacruz is winding down. It's been almost a month since the Capital Murder trial began.

SAN ANGELO, TX — The trial it began on March 19th and the jury delivered a guilty verdict 10 days later. After that, the sentencing phase began. However, the jury has been in and out of the courtroom over the past few weeks, sometimes being released just minutes after arriving.

During that time, the state had several corrections officers and other law enforcement officers take the stand. The Defense called several members of Delacruz's family to the stand. Both sides called psychiatrists to testify and on Monday they both rested their case.

The jury was sent home around 4 o'clock Monday afternoon and will report back to court Tuesday morning. Then they will hear closing arguments.
