According to Tech, the campus remains on lockdown as of 9:25 p.m. Police officers said they brought the suspect to the station for debriefing; at that time, the suspect shot an officer, then fled on foot.

The suspect is still at-large as of 9:30 p.m.

The suspect was apprehended near 2720 Drive of Champions, City bank Coliseum.

The suspect has been identified as Hollis Daniels, 19, of Seguin, Texas.

The Lubbock Police Department released the narrative, describing the acts that took place on Oct. 9 that resulted in the murder of a Texas Tech University police officer.

According to an arrest warrant, Daniels said under oath that he has good reason to believe he intentionally or knowingly caused the death of a peace officer who was acting in the lawful discharge of an official duty.

The Texas Tech police officer has been identified as Floyd East Jr.

According to the narrative in the arrest warrant, Daniels was arrested for possession of a controlled substance. East then transported Daniels to the Texas Tech Police Department.

East went to complete paperwork at the computers in the briefing room. Another officer, Corporal Snelson observed East facing the computers while Daniels was facing the opposite direction. East and Daniels were slightly offset from each other. At this time, Daniels was not handcuffed.

Snelson left the briefing room and went to a nearby office. Shortly after, Snelson heard a bang from the briefing room.

Snelson returned to the briefing room where he saw East had an apparent gunshot wound. He also noticed that Daniels was no longer in the room.

East was found with a .45 caliber RP shell casing near him. Snelson also noticed that East's body camera was missing. East's pistol was in his holster.

Daniels was located near 2720 Drive of Champions, City bank Coliseum, where he was taken into custody.

A .45 caliber posted, loaded with RP ammunition was located where Daniels was arrested. A police body camera was located near the arrest location as well.

Daniels stated to officers that he was the one that shot their friend.

When detectives interviewed Daniels, he stated he "F***ed up." Later Daniels stated that he did "something illogical."

Daniels has been charged with a felony of capital murder of a peace officer. His bond is set at $5,000,000.
