EL PASO, Texas — According to ABC News, as many as 18 people were shot and three suspects were in custody after a mass shooting in El Paso near a Walmart and the Cielo Vista Mall.

The ABC affiliate in El Paso, KVIA reported that the incident took place around 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.

According to KVIA, a witness said people were being escorted out of the mall with their hands in the air.

It was last reported that the scene is still active and the federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms were headed to the area.

Police ask people avoid the area of Airway to Hawkins north of I-10.
