Starting Monday, February 5, the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) will begin the installation of a traffic signal west of Garden City at the intersection of SH 158 and SH 137 in Glasscock County. This process is expected to take approximately one week. Once the installation is complete, the signal will be set to flashing yellow mode on SH 158 and flashing red mode on SH 137 for roughly five days to get motorists used to the new signal. On February 14, the signal should be fully operational.
The speed limit on SH 158 near this intersection was recently decreased from 75 mph to 65 mph.
TxDOT hopes that the addition of this signal will help improve traffic flow in the area. An overpass at the intersection of SH 158 and SH 137 is scheduled to be built in 2020.
