Trump to Announce Supreme Court Pick Today
The President’s top contenders include federal appeals court judges Amy Coney Barrett, Brett Kavanaugh and Raymond Kethledge.
"I'm very close to making a final decision. And I believe this person will do a great job," Trump told reports as he left for Washington from a weekend at his New Jersey golf club.
Later Sunday, Trump tweeted that he was "[l]ooking forward to announcing my final decision on the United States Supreme Court Justice at 9:00pmE tomorrow night at the @WhiteHouse. An exceptional person will be chosen!"
Mike Pompeo Travels in Vietnam
U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo on Sunday appealed to North Korean leader Kim Jon Un to replicate Vietnam’s success by improving ties with the United States.
Pompeo stating, "In light of the once unimaginable prosperity and partnership we have with Vietnam today, I have a message for Chairman Kim Jong Un. President Trump believes your country can replicate this path. It's yours if you'll seize the moment. The miracle can be yours, it can be your miracle in North Korea as well”
These comments coming after North Korea accused the U.S. of making “gangster-like” denuclearization demands of North Korea
Ex-Senate Aide James Wolfe Goes Before Judge
The former Senate Intelligence Committee staffer who was accused of lying to FBI agents will appear at FBI headquarters today for booking. Wolfe retired in May and was indicted on three counts of making false statements about information leaked to reporters.
Homeland Security Hearing on Mass Shootings
A House Homeland Security Subcommittee will be holding field hearings in Newark, New Jersey today. Titled Protecting Our Future these hearings will address school security challenges hoping to find answers on how to prevent more mass school shootings like those in Parkland, Florida and Santa Fe, Texas this year.
Harvey Weinstein Due in Court Today
Former movie Mogul Harvey Weinstein is also in court today on new charges related to Sexual Assault. Weinstein, who was previously indicted on charges involving two women, will now face two counts of Predatory sexual assault for a third woman. This third conviction could get Weinstein life in prison if convicted.
