UPDATE: 8:56 a.m. - The San Angelo Independent School District has opened both Goliad and Bradford elementary schools for anyone seeking shelter after and during the storms.
ORIGINAL STORY: Storms rolled through the Concho Valley and Big Country early Saturday morning. Reports of widespread damage and power outages flooded social media as the storms continued.
The National Weather Service in San Angelo shut down, leaving only critical personnel early Saturday morning as a tornado warning was issued, then extended.
A flash flood warning remains effective in the area until 10:30 a.m.
The San Angelo Fire Department is asking motorists to stay off the roads.
In San Angelo, the areas of East 24th, 25th and 26th streets were hit hard with many damages reported. Low water rescues were occurring throughout the city, as well as gas leaks being reported.
