ABILENE, Texas — Abilene Cooper improves to 7-0, remaining undefeated alongside only four other 11-man football teams in the state. The Cougars are turning heads after becoming the No. 9 ranked team in the State of Texas.
Cooper took down crosstown rival Abilene High in September, 23-14. Following the win, the Cougars traveled down the road to Wylie for a 30-0 shutout win.
With the Cougar’s goal of playing December football, Head Coach Aaron Roan said, "We want to be a playoff team. We want to get into playing over Thanksgiving and get into being a December football team.” He added, “That hasn't been done here in a long time and our kids want to be a part of that.”
Quarterback Aidan Thompson echoed Coach Roan’s commit to reach the ultimate goal, adding that it could only be achieved by, "coming together as a brotherhood and changing the culture to do something that hasn't been done."
Abilene Cooper is heading into their eighth game this season against Caprock on Friday at 7:30pm.
