ACU football plays at UTEP Saturday for first game

Wildcats plan to play two QB's in the lineup

ABILENE, Texas — It's been a long wait but college football is finally back in the Big Country. ACU has a full season ahead of them, starting with UTEP this Saturday in El Paso.

"I can't put into words how excited we are to play Saturday. Our team has worked really hard since January, on and off the field but internally to improve our leadership," head coach Adam Dorrel said.

It will be another season of a quarterback battle but one where both will see playing time in the lineup. Sema'J Davis is back for his junior season joined by junior Iowa transfer, Peyton Mansell.

"I have been very pleased with both of those young men and their leadership. It's vocal leadership. Sema'J has really gotten out of his comfort level. The thing I like is they are both dual-threat guys."

Both quarterbacks can run the ball, throw it and voted to be captains this season by their teammates. Coach says that the depth on this roster is what will set the team apart this year.

"Everyone needs to be prepared to play 40 snaps as hard as they can and we're going to do that. We have 10 defensive linemen, eight offensive, three tight-ends, eight defensive backs, six linebackers... we're rolling dudes in and out."

UTEP is coming off of a loss against the University of Texas, now sitting at 1-1 heading into this match-up against the Wildcats.

Kickoff is set for 8pm on ESPN3 Saturday for ACU's first game of the season.
