SAN ANGELO, Texas — Angelo State University is hosting its annual Military Appreciation Day football game and related activities kicking off at 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 14. The activities will continue until the end of the Rams’ football game at approximately 10 p.m.

ASU’s LeGrand Alumni and Visitors Center parking lot, 1620 University Ave., will open for tailgating at 10 a.m. Tailgate spots are free and open to the public, but must be reserved in advance and in person at the LeGrand Center. Spots are limited and early reservations are encouraged.

The LeGrand Center will also be the site for Military Appreciation Day Ram Jam starting at 3:30 p.m. Ram Jam is free and activities include live music and performances by the ASU Ram Band, Angelettes, cheerleaders and mascots. There will also be free food, giveaways and children’s activities.

At 5:30 p.m., the Ram Band, Angelettes and cheerleaders will lead the crowd across the street to LeGrand Stadium at 1st Community Credit Union Field for the ASU Rams football game against Simon Fraser University that kicks off at 6 p.m.

Admission to the football game will be free for active-duty military members, dependents, veterans and retirees with valid military ID card. Fireworks and cannon shots will be fired during the opening ceremony and throughout the game.

Military Appreciation Day is sponsored by the ASU Veterans Educational and Transitional Services (VETS) Center and the ASU Alumni Association.
