Ballinger Bearcat football not only wins but reuites an entire community

After a F-3 tornado came through the area in May, the football team has been a beacon of hope to bring the community together after tragedy

BALLINGER, Texas — The two top teams in District 4-3A DII are the showcase game Friday night. To understand where one team has come from, you have to understand what they had to go through to get to this moment.

In May, Ballinger had an F-3 tornado rip through the high school baseball and football fields. Making its way through the campus and destroying homes that look out to the school's landscape.

"The community has always been there for us and we will always be there for them," said Ballinger Bearcat quarterback Edgar Nunez.

Through the sport of football, the community has now an outlet to where they can come together on Friday nights and reunite as the great community it has always been. "Winning is a good thing and it's even better when the family and community can enjoy it too."

Bearcat Nation has been through an unexpected tragedy and the community knows that together, they will not only reunite as a community but also become stronger than ever.
