ABILENE, Texas — Taylor Gaffney stands as the only senior on the Cowgirls roster. A roster she has worked her whole life to be on. Her dream was always to play college basketball.
"It was really hard, it's competitive. People told me I wasn't realistic and that I should find different goals. But that was always the goal," Gaffney added.
Hardin Simmons was the first school to recruit the Frisco native. Now, she is taking on her senior year with the girls who have become her family.
"I've been a part of a lot of teams, so I've had many families. That's my favorite thing about basketball, the people you get to meet, I've met people that I never would of met before if I didn't play basketball."
Head coach Kendra Hassell has loved the opportunity to coach Gaffney. "She's one of the ones in the gym every morning getting shots up. She's ready to finish on a strong note."
The Cowgirls travel up the road to McMurry Thursday night for a 5:30pm match-up.
