The Lone Star Conference announced Friday that given the uncertainty associated with COVID-19 and the need to fully assess the ability of member institutions to adhere to the NCAA guidelines for return to practice and competition, LCS Council of Presidents voted to delay the start of practice for all fall 2020 sports.

Practices can be held no earlier than Aug. 24, according to a release from the LSC. Fall sports competition, if subsequently approved by the Conference, will begin no earlier than the week of Sept. 21.

The Lone Star Conference encompasses Angelo State, Cameron, Dallas Baptist, Eastern New Mexico, Lubbock Christian, Midwestern State, Oklahoma Christian, St. Edward's, St. Mary's, Texas A&M International, Texas A&M Commerce, Texas A&M Kingsville, Texas Women's University of Arkansas - Fort Smith, University of Texas Permian Basin, University of Texas at Tyler, West Texas A&M and Western New Mexico universities.

The LSC Council of Presidents will reconvene before the start of the fall season to review updated public health information and any new directives or information from federal, state and local officials to make a final determination regarding fall sports, the release said.
