McMurry softball looks to build off their season

The War Hawks kicked off their first season at Edwards Field

ABILENE, Texas — Edwards Field is continuing to build this programs success. McMurry softball just began their new journey this season in their new home. Although the season ended abruptly due to COVID-19, this team has so much to look forward to in the future.

"To see how much greatness we did in a short amount of time sets a tone for recruiting and years to come. It makes me excited for the coaching staff," senior Hope Schoeneman said.

Schoeneman is thankful for her time at McMurry despite the quick ending to her senior season.

"A lot of the seniors were sad and angry. We didn't know what to think, we were emotionless... We didn't know our career was going to end the way that it did."

Although this is a hard time for the senior, this group helped this program build from the ground up. From beginning the program two years ago to having a place to call their home at Edwards Field.

"We play for each other," Schoeneman added. "This team mans so much to me, I've never played on a team that plays so much for each other."

This group had a year of growth and change from a 13-25 record in 2019 to kicking off their 2020 season 13-2.

This team will go down in history as the first team to play on Edwards Field and the War Hawks should be proud of that and whats to come in this program.
