PORTLAND, Ore. — One player on the Portland Trail Blazers has tested positive for COVID-19, head coach Terry Stotts confirmed Monday.
On Sunday, the team reported that three members of the organization tested positive for COVID-19. The team shut down its practice facility Sunday for deep cleaning on what was supposed to be the Blazers' first day of training camp.
Stotts said Monday that one of the three positive tests was a player, though the team won't reveal the player's identity.
The Blazers coach said the team will practice Tuesday but will be without three players: the player who tested positive; Zach Collins, who continues to rehab an injured ankle; and Jusuf Nurkic, who returned Sunday from his home country of Bosnia and must clear testing protocol before he can practice with the team.
And with only a few days left for team practice training camp before Friday's first pre-season game, Stotts said the team would do the best it could to prepare. But that this season was bound to be a challenge on several unusual levels.
"Everybody’s had to adjust new ways of doing things, so it’s unfortunate that we had the positive tests but we have to adapt and move on," said Stotts. "I think everybody in the country has to adapt and move on, and be flexible and be patient."
