SAN ANGELO, Texas — All San Angelo Independent School District athletic workouts and practices, including strength and conditioning, band and color guard, are temporarily suspended until Monday, July 13.

According to a post on the district's Facebook page, the decision was made after a recommendation was released by the University Interscholastic League (UIL) on Wednesday, July 1.

“For schools in areas experiencing community spread of COVID-19, this temporary suspension will reduce risk of exposure and provide an opportunity to review current plans and re-evaluate local context in order to make informed decisions moving forward,’ the UIL said in a statement. “UIL will continue to work with state officials and monitor CDC and other federal guidance to determine any potential modifications to UIL summer guidelines.’

The SAISD will provide updates as they become available.
