Mason's Tristin Keller breaks down barriers on the field playing the game she loves

A five-sport athlete and future D1 basketball player. Keller started in first varsity football game against San Saba this season.

MASON, Texas — Mason five-sport athlete, Tristin Keller, has loved sports her entire life. Growing up, her dad was always a football coach and still is as one for the Punchers and her mom was a basketball coach. Sports ran in her blood.

"I was always competitive because I got to be around sports all the time. I never wanted to be with the girls, I always wanted to be with the boys," Keller said.

So much that she now plays five sports at Mason, including football. Keller started in her first varsity game against San Saba and received attention all over the country on social media.

She doesn't even realize or do it for the boundaries she's breaking on the football field, she simply playing this game because she loves it.

Keller encourages girls to play football and to not be afraid of playing a male-dominated sport.

"I would say don't be scared. A lot of guys are scared too, especially at a young age. It's a mentality, a mindset, a heart thing. If you love football then go for it. Do what you love no matter what it is," Keller added.

While she excels in many sports, Keller recently committed to play basketball at the D1 level. She will play only a few hours from home at ACU under head coach coach  Julie Goodenough following her graduation in 2022.

Keller has many ties to the Abilene area. Her mom grew up there and went to Cooper High School and her grandparents still live there.

Tristin Keller is thankful for the way the community in Mason has embraced her in every sport, especially on the football field. "The community is amazing, I can't emphasize it enough."

We look forward to following the rest of her journey at Mason and her next chapter at ACU in a few years.
