2-year-old killed in Midland County crash

DPS says the toddler was taken to Covenant Medical Center in Lubbock where he later succumbed to his injuries.

MIDLAND, Texas — A two year old is dead and several others were injured following a crash in Midland County.

According to a crash report from DPS, the crash took place at the intersection of East BI-20 and E. Loop 250 around 11:18 a.m. on Dec. 17.

An SUV driven by Traylor Collins was stopped at the stop light on the exit ramp of the loop that intersects with BI-20.

At the same time, a car driven by Katelynn McWright was traveling westbound on BI-20.

Collins traveled south into the intersection and was struck by McWright.

Both drivers and three minors in Collins' car were all taken to Midland Memorial Hospital. Four of them are reported to be stable.

One of the minors, a two year old who DPS says was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash was then taken to Covenant Medical Center in Lubbock. He succumbed to his injuries on Dec. 21.

DPS did not say in the report who was at fault in the crash at this time. The investigation is still underway and no further information is available. We will update this story as more information is released by DPS.
