San Antonio officers help corral longhorns off Loop 1604

Police say they were able to get the animals out of the main lanes of the highway, and onto the center median.

SAN ANTONIO — San Antonio officers had a wild night as they helped corral five longhorns off the highway early Friday morning.

It happened around 3:30 a.m. on Loop 1604, about half a mile north of I-10.

Police say they were able to get the animals out of the main lanes of the highway, and onto the center median. The steer apparently lived nearby and officers were able to get in contact with the owner, who came quickly to claim them.

Officers helped get the longhorns back to the owner's property, but both sides of the highway had to be shut down during the incident.
