Three-vehicle crash slows traffic near TLCA campus Thursday afternoon

The driver of the vehicle that struck two other vehicles was transported to the hospital for medical evaluation.

SAN ANGELO, Texas — One driver was injured in a three-vehicle crash at the intersection of Melrose Avenue and the Houston Harte Expressway frontage road, near the TLCA High School campus.

Witnesses said the driver of a sedan coming off the Loop appeared to lose control of the vehicle.

San Angelo Fire Department Battalion Chief Fred Barnett said at the scene that it was unclear whether the cause of the crash was medically-related or speed-related.

The sedan crossed over into the median, and then over-corrected, came across and struck a culvert. Barnett said an SUV and another sedan.were waiting in line to the Houston Harte access road from TLCA.

"He came flying through and struck both of them," Barnett said.

The driver of the sedan that lost control was transported by ambulance for medical evaluation, but was alert, oriented, speaking and was able to walk away from his vehicle, according to Barnett.

The drivers of the other sedan and SUV did not report injuries at the scene.

"Lots of serious damage, but nobody seriously injured in this event," Barnett said.

San Angelo Police were on the scene investigating the crash.
