SAN ANGELO, Texas — Welcome to the weekend everyone, it’s going to be an action-packed one. Temperatures will reach the triple digits, however many events around town begin in the evening as the sun starts to set. The weather itself will be like every other day this week, with high heat during the day, and lows that slowly drop into the mid to upper 70s overnight.

Saturday will see highs get up to 102 degrees as another clear and hot summer day in West Texas. The festivities really kick off in the evening, including Music in the Park with Mad Cowboys at Play Faire Park in Abilene. When the show begins at 7:45 p.m., temperatures will be in the mid-90s as they begin to slowly decline. The sun will be setting around this time as well, so keep your shades on to block the sun and maybe take a few golden hour pictures while you’re out there.

Sunday will be very similar to, if not a bit cooler than Saturday. There will still be mostly clear skies, but Sunday will also see consistent wind gusts up to 20 mph through the evening. For those of you in San Angelo, Sunday will be day two of Wild West Fest at the Bill Aylor Sr. Memorial RiverStage. Doors open to the RiverStage at 6 p.m., so temperatures will have just plateaued for the day. Then the sun, temperatures and wind gusts will all be dying down as the night goes on.

Once the weekend ends and August begins, don’t expect much to change. Nearly the entire country is expected to see above-average temperatures, and it seems like most of our area will be drier than average, just like the rest of the summer.

As per usual, with this powerful heat, here are some resources on how to stay safe this weekend.
