Temperatures take a chill pill over the weekend

We're getting away from the record heat of this week and getting more temperate weather conditions

Things are finally starting to cool off after our 5th day of this warm streak we’ve been having. Temperatures exceeded expectations yet again, but today they only matched their previous records and did not break them.

San Angelo reached 88 degrees and Abilene reached 87. Now that the sun has been down for a while, it’s much cooler, with many places currently in the lower 70s and a few having dipped down into the 60s already.

Lows tonight will be on the warmer side again, in the 50s for most locations, but a few places on the western side of our viewing area will be in the 40s thanks to the incoming cold front.

We’ll also finally cool off a bit into the 70s tomorrow and Sunday because of the cold front. Speaking of tomorrow, there will be more holiday festivities like the Tree Lighting and the Parade of Lights happening at 5 p.m. and 6 p.m. respectively. Temperatures will be in the upper 60s, so it’ll be comfortable, but lows will dip into the 50s so maybe have a jacket just in case.

Wrapping up the weekend, we’ll see another stronger, but still dry, cold front pass through overnight Sunday into Monday morning that will drop temperatures way down into the 50s. Tuesday will warm back up into the lower 70s, but one final weak cold front on Wednesday will drop temperatures into the 60s again. In the end, the warm and dry weather will prevail, so Thursday and Friday will be back into the upper 70s. Overall, we’re seeing quite a rollercoaster of temperatures over this next week.
