3 killed, 1 injured in collision near Alpine

According to DPS, the driver tried to pass another vehicle while in a no-passing zone and collided with the truck.

ALPINE, Texas — Three people are dead and another person injured following a two-vehicle crash on December 28.

According to DPS, Alma Wilson, 54, of Odessa was traveling west on U.S. Highway 67 near Alpine just before 11 a.m.

At the same time, Roberto Taveraz-Roman, 79, was driving east on the same road.

DPS reports that Wilson was following another vehicle and attempted to pass that vehicle in a no-passing zone, resulting in a head-on collision with Taveraz-Roman's truck.

Wilson was pronounced dead at the scene, while a passenger in her car was taken to Medical Center Hospital with incapacitating injuries.

Taveraz-Roman and his passenger, Ludivina Taveraz, 72, were also pronounced dead at the scene. Both were from Big Lake.

DPS is still investigating the crash and no further information is available at this time.
