Yeonmi Park to speak, discuss memoir at Angelo State University

SAN ANGELO, Texas — The Texas Tech University Free Market Institute at Angelo State University is sponsoring a presentation by Yeonmi Park at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 27 at the Houston Harte University Center, 1910 Rosemont Drive.

According to an ASU press release, Park is a North Korean defector and human rights, activist. 

The presentation will be held in the University Center's C.J. Davidson Conference Center and will be open to the public at no cost.

Face masks and social distancing will be required for those in attendance.

During the presentation, Park will discuss her memoir, "In Order to Live: A North Korean Girl's Journey to Freedom," and her former life in North Korea as she rallies support for oppressed people around the world, according to the release.

The Texas Tech University Free Market Institute at Angelo State University aims to advance research and teaching related to the free enterprise system and support the ASU Norris-Vincent College of Business missions. 

It also develops and operates student and public programming benefiting ASU students and the community of San Angelo.
