ABILENE, Texas — A 54-year-old woman is in an Abilene hospital after being shot multiple times early Wednesday by a man Abilene Police say is a "previous intimate partner."
The APD said officers were called to an injured subject report at an apartment complex on West Lake Road in north Abilene at around 1:30 a.m. Wednesday.
The victim was taken to the hospital for treatment of her injuries and remains at the hospital, APD said.
Fifty-six-year-old Gregory Haywood, the shooting suspect, was captured in the Dallas/Fort Worth area Wednesday morning by the Dallas Police Department on unrelated charges. He'll be extradited to Abilene to face aggravated assault charges.
In a release, the Abilene Police Department thanked the Dallas Police Department for assistance in the Haywood's capture just hours after the shooting.
