NOLAN COUNTY, Texas — The Texas Department of Public Safety said it investigated several crashes on Interstate 20 in the area of the 232 milepost, west of Roscoe between 3 pm. to 4 p.m. Monday during the heavy rain storm and severe winds.

At around 4:30 p.m. Monday, a semitruck traveling east on I-20 at the 232 milepost ran into severe weather conditions resulting in the vehicle overturning. The semitruck's occupants were the driver and a co-driver, who was asleep in the sleeper berth. DPS reports the crash resulted in a fatality and it is investigating.

The semitruck was being driven by Cheaney Dee Key, 33, of San Diego, California. His co-driver, Kevin Ivan Lopez Hernandez, 27, of Los Angeles, California, was sleeping in the berth.

Preliminary information from DPS said key was traveling east on I-20 at milepost 232 during a rain storm. Road conditions caused the vehicle to overturn and hit a guard rail. Hernandez was killed in the crash.

Emergency crews continued working in the area late Monday at the 230 milepost of I-20, in the westbound lanes clearing another rollover crash.
