New public high school coming to Abilene in August

Triumph Public High School will offer community-based education opportunities for non-traditional students and at-risk youth.

ABILENE, Texas — Triumph Public High School will be ready for Abilene students this year, providing community-based educational options for non-traditional students and at-risk youth.

The new school’s Principal Brian Florence and Superintendent Frances Berrones-Johnson shared details about the new school at a press conference Wednesday at the Abilene Convention and Visitors Bureau.
Triumph High School is known for its innovative approach to education and commitment to student success and aims to be a valuable addition to the Abilene community, a press release said. The school's mission is to provide a supportive and engaging learning environment that prepares students for a bright future.

At the press conference, Florence expressed enthusiasm for the new school, saying, “It’s exciting, definitely a passionate experience, something I dreamed about my whole life... Definitely excited to light the torch here in Abilene."

Berrones-Johnson echoed Florence's sentiments, emphasizing the importance of offering diverse educational opportunities to students.
“We typically serve a population that traditionally is underserved. So, we help students’ kind of step up, want to come back to high school finish up, get their high school diploma. And not just that but really prepare them for either college, career, or military readiness," she said.

The arrival of Triumph High School marks a milestone for Abilene's education system. As the city continues to grow, the addition of the school will provide students with more choices and opportunities for success.
