The Ector County Sheriff’s Office has re-arrested a man in connection to a deadly shooting in 2022.

Court records show that 36-year-old Craig Vaughn Bowers was arrested on a warrant and booked into the Ector County Jail on Wednesday for murder after his bond was revoked.

According to ECSO, around 10:24 p.m. on April 24, 2022, deputies responded to a car wreck near the intersection of W 16th Street and Tim Tam Circle.

While responding to the initial crash call, the office received another call from a woman about a disturbance and possible gunshot victim at the same location as the crash.

When deputies got to the scene, they found a man with a single gunshot wound to his torso.

The gunshot victim, Mauricio Israel Islas, 19, was taken to Medical Center Hospital where he died from his injuries.

After several witnesses were interviewed at the scene, Bowers was arrested for murder on April 25, 2022.

He posted a $250,000 bond and was released on the same day.

He was then arrested again for two counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon on June 1, 2022. NewsWest 9 does not have the affidavit for that arrest, so it is unclear exactly what it was for. However, the offense date is also listed as April 24, 2022.

He posted a $25,000 bond for each of those charges and was released on June 2, 2022.

He is being held without bond for the arrest on Wednesday.
