UPDATE: Abilene Police make arrest in Tuesday night shooting death

Three people were shot Tuesday night at an Abilene apartment complex. One of the men shot died from his injuries, the APD said.

ABILENE, Texas — UPDATE (11 p.m. Feb. 2): An arrest has been made in the shooting death of Paul John Delacruz of Abilene.

Abilene Police said the suspect is Arthur Jesse Gallegoz, 22, of Abilene.

On Wednesday, Feb. 2, at approximately 6:11 p.m., members of the department’s Surveillance, Apprehension and Tactics Team (SATT), with assistance of the SWAT team, arrested Gallegoz at a home on South 3rd Street.

He was booked into the Taylor County Jail where he is being charged with first-degree felony murder and held on a $250,000 bond.

UPDATE (2:40 p.m. Feb. 2): The Abilene Police Department said it is no longer seeking Brack Earl Daniels, 35, as a person of interest in this investigation. Major Investigations Bureau detectives are actively pursuing other leads. Any investigative updates will be communicated in a separate news release.

UPDATE (10:20 a.m. Feb. 2): A person of interest has been identified by Abilene Police in connection to a triple-shooting that resulted in one death late Tuesday.

The APD is actively looking for Brack Earl Daniels, 35.

Daniels is currently wanted for charges unrelated to the homicide investigation. Those charges include warrants for second-degree felony burglary of a habitation; state jail felony evading arrest; Class A misdemeanor assault family violence; and Class A misdemeanor assault. The total bond for those charges is $80,500.

Qualifying tips that lead to the arrest of Daniels will be eligible for a $1,000 reward. 

ORIGINAL STORY: An Abilene man is dead after being shot at an apartment complex on the city's north side late Tuesday.

According to the Abilene Police Department, at approximately 11:31 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 1, officers responded to an injured subject call at an apartment complex in the 300 block of North Mockingbird Lane.

Multiple calls were received about injured persons at that location.

Responding officers found three shooting victims. Emergency medical services also responded and took all three victims to a local hospital.

The three victims are identified as a 35-year-old man, a 42-year-old man and a 40-year-old woman. 

Paul John Delacruz, 35, of Abilene, died from his injuries, police said. His next-of-kin have been notified. The other two victims are being treated for life-threatening injuries.

APD's Major Investigations Bureau detectives are actively investigating the incident.
