ABILENE, Texas — The Abilene ISD Board of Trustees unanimously voted to name Dr. John Kuhn the new Superintendent of Schools for Abilene ISD Thursday morning. The Board’s official approval action was taken after the conclusion of a state-mandated 21-day contract negotiation waiting period.

“It is a tremendous privilege to join the teachers, staff, and families of Abilene ISD on their mission to equip our students to achieve their brightest futures,” Kuhn said. “My goal is to ensure that every AISD student is cared for and has the opportunity to discover their full potential every day.”

According to an AISD press release, prior to joining Abilene ISD, Kuhn most recently served as superintendent of schools for Mineral Wells ISD. Kuhn's 27 years in public education also includes serving as superintendent of Perrin-Whitt CISD and as a high school principal, assistant principal, teacher and bus driver in the Mineral Wells and Graford Independent School Districts.
