Beyond Trafficking hosts annual Walk for Freedom

Beyond Trafficking hosted its annual Walk for Freedom in downtown Abilene over the weekend.

The annual Walk for Freedom was held Saturday, Oct. 14, in downtown Abilene by Beyond Trafficking, a nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering and protecting survivors of human trafficking. 

Partnering with national organization, A21, Beyond Trafficking said the walk aimed to raise awareness and support for survivors to help break the cycle caused by human trafficking and walk serves as a platform for survivors, their families, activists and concerned citizens to come together.

Parade participants marched single file through the streets of downtown Abilene, carrying banners and urged people to join the fight against the modern-day form of slavery.

After the walk, representatives took the stage to deliver powerful speeches, emphasizing the importance of community support. Music and family-friendly activities rounded out the event.
