ABILENE, Texas — Another West Texas school district is closing for the day because of an increased number of illnesses among its staff and students.
TLCA Abilene sent a notice to parents on social media to inform them Abilene elementary and secondary campuses will be closed Friday, Jan. 26.
In an effort to prioritize the health and safety of the school community, TLCA Abilene asked parents to thoroughly disinfect and wash children's belongings over the weekend. Staff will be disinfecting the school Friday to ensure the district can quickly address the situation.
Merkel ISD was closed Wednesday and Thursday this week for the same reasons.
