SAN ANGELO, Texas — A 36-year-old woman was arrested Monday morning after police say she led them in a pursuit that ended up in a crash into a patrol unit in an apartment complex parking lot.

A San Angelo Police Department release said shortly after midnight, an SAPD patrol officer saw an SUV driving recklessly on Sherwood Way. The officer was able to catch up to the SUV and initiated a traffic stop in the 4900 block of Houston Harte frontage road. The driver initially stopped for the officer, but then took off at a high rate of speed.

A pursuit was initiated and officers saw the SUV enter the parking lot of an apartment complex on Southland Boulevard. The SUV turned around in the parking lot and then collided with a pursuing patrol unit. The collision caused extensive damage to both vehicles and officers were then able to quickly take the driver into custody.

Crystal Robles, 36, arrested for reckless driving, driving while intoxicated, and evading arrest/detention with a motor vehicle. A 35-year-old passenger in Robles’ vehicle was initially detained, but released at the conclusion of the initial investigation.

Neither Robles or her passenger were injured, but an SAPD sergeant had minor injuries associated with the crash and was treated and later released from Concho Valley ER.
