SAN ANGELO, Texas — UPDATE (April 29): Dates for pressure paving in San Angelo have changed.

Drivers in downtown San Angelo may experience detours next week, beginning Wednesday, May 8, as a pressure pave project is completed.

A release from Downtown San Angelo, Inc., says pressure pave will be applied on each one-block coming off of Chadbourne Street, as well as the length of Irving and Oakes streets from the river to College Avenue.

Pressure pave is a multi-part single application process that uses pressure to force liquid crack sealant and waterproofing membrane into all the cracks (large and small) completely sealing the surface. It applies a thin mix of rock and asphalt to level and smooth small undulations in the roadway; and applies a second coat of mix to further improve the driving surface.

Affected roads should be barricaded off by 6 a.m. on their given day.

Here's what to expect:

Day 1

  • Wednesday, May 8: Irving Street (from East College Avenue to West River Drive).

Day 2

  • Thursday, May 9: Beauregard Avenue, Twohig Avenue, Concho Avenue (from Irving Street to Chadbourne Street).

Day 3

  • Friday, May 10: Oakes Street (from East College Avenue to the Oakes Street Bridge).

Day 4

  • Saturday, May 11: Beauregard Avenue, Twohig Avenue, Concho Avenue (from Chadbourne Street to Oakes Street).

Businesses shouldn't have traffic diverted from their direct frontage for more than a day.

DTSA says it's very important that no one parks in or drives through the construction zones. Even with the road closures, vehicles will be able to park just around the corner from their destinations.

Be sure you don't in the scheduled work zone, or your vehicle will be towed around the corner.

The project is expected to be complete Saturday, May 11.
