SAN ANGELO, Texas — UPDATE (4:45 p.m. May 6): TLCA San Angelo says the student behind the social media 'prank' has been suspended and district administration says he is suspended and will not be allowed back on campus.

In a social media post, district administration said, "We are taking this situation very seriously, and have moved forward with the expulsion process. The student from TLCA is currently suspended and will not be allowed back on campus. We have a zero tolerance policy for this kind of behavior.

To our parents and guardians, we appreciate your understanding and support as we have been cooperating with SAPD throughout the investigation process."

ORIGINAL STORY: Two minors behind a social media 'prank' initially reported as a threat against TLCA San Angelo could be facing charges and one could be expelled from the school, the district said Monday morning.

San Angelo Police posted to social media Sunday evening that it was aware of a 'potential threat towards TLCA campuses' spreading on social media. The department said it did not believe the threat to be valid and it was working with TLCA faculty to investigate.

The district said the SAPD investigation "provided evidence this was not a firearm, and the one minor who attends TLCA lives in a home with NO firearms."

Both boys could face charges and the TLCA San Angelo student will be facing expulsion.

"We have a zero-tolerance policy for this kind of behavior. The student will not be on our school campus," the district said.

TLCA administrators did not specify which of it's San Angelo campuses the 'threat' was referring to in the student's post.

TLCA San Angelo said added security was provided Monday morning as students returned to school. The SAPD told the district it would support campus with additional patrols.
