COMANCHE COUNTY, Texas — One driver has been pronounced dead and another seriously injured following a crash Dec. 8 in Comanche County.
According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, 30-year old Brownwood resident Sergio Vasquez Vardona was driving eastbound in his Dodge Ram pickup truck at approximately 7:45 a.m. on U.S. Hwy 67, when he lost control.
Vardona veered into the westbound lane, where he hit the right side of a Ford pickup truck driven by Kolton Ponnie Edward Smith.
Upon arriving to the scene, Justice of the Peace Johnny Conine pronounced Vardona dead at approximately 8:10 a.m.
Smith suffered serious injuries and was taken to Texas Health Hospital in Stephenville as a result.
At the time of the crash, the weather was clear but the roads were wet.
