Mayor Williams claims Abilene-Taylor County will receive the COVID-19 vaccine in late January

According to Mayor Anthony Williams, the Big Country should expect the COVID-19 vaccine in early 2021.

ABILENE, Texas — According to Mayor Anthony Williams, Abilene-Taylor County could see the COVID-19 vaccine as early as late January-early February.

Williams posted a Facebook Live Monday evening where he provided an update on the climate of the city and county in regards to COVID-19.

According to Williams, Abilene-Taylor County has conducted over 60,000 COVID-19 tests, 6,400 have come back positive, and 2,300+ are currently active.

"There will be a plan that I will share with you early to mid-January for what that means for us here. Who gets it how they get it that sort of thing. Those plans and conversations are occurring as we speak." said Williams.

Williams went on to say that the city and county are relying on the community to be responsible when it comes to slowing the spread. Williams said the current condition of Abilene will not be its conclusion.

"For us to be successful there is very little the city and county can do.. we need you. me, and our neighbors to take responsibility and that starts with wearing your mask" said Williams.

According to the city of San Angelo, PIO, Brian Groves there is currently not any information to share in regards to when Tom Green county will receive the vaccinations.
