American Airlines launches new daily nonstop flight to Auckland, New Zealand

The Fort Worth-based airline said the service will be the only daily nonstop flight to Auckland out of DFW.

DALLAS — American Airlines has launched its new daily nonstop flight from Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport to Auckland, New Zealand.

The service began on Saturday, Oct. 29.

The Fort Worth-based airline said the service will be the only daily nonstop flight to Auckland out of DFW, along with being the only flight to New Zealand from the south and southeast U.S. this winter.

The new flight was announced in May of this year, with the airline saying the service will be in operation through March 25, 2023, on a Boeing 787-9 aircraft.

The flights feature Flagship Business and Premium Economy cabins.

“As DFW’s hometown airline, we are proud to continue building on the expansive network we offer from American’s largest hub. Offering service to Auckland from DFW means that customers from almost anywhere in the world can connect to New Zealand with one convenient stop here, and vice versa” said Jim Moses, American’s vice president of DFW operations.

“New Zealand has never been more connected, and the DFW flight will make it even easier for Americans to get there. It’s a unique opportunity to showcase our manaakitanga (hospitality/kindness/respect) as they explore our beautiful country, and experience all that New Zealand has to offer”, said Sarah Handley, Tourism New Zealand’s general manager Americas and Europe.

DFW Airport is becoming a destination for travelers interested in the Oceania region and cities within Australia and New Zealand.

Earlier this year, the airport announced it would be offering nonstop Qantas flights to Melbourne, Australia. According to DFW Airport, it would be the only airport not on the West Coast to offer a nonstop service to Melbourne.
