FORT WORTH, Texas — Dr. Phil is bringing his show, and a whole new network, to Fort Worth.

The longtime talk show host who left daytime television in May will begin filming a new primetime show in December, and he'll be doing it at his newly-constructed studio in Fort Worth.

That's according to his website, which is also details the his new cable network that will air the show, Merit Street Media. The site says Dr. Phil, whose full name is Phil McGraw, will begin taping two episodes per day on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays, beginning Dec. 11.

The show will debut Feb. 26, 2024, at 7 p.m. central time on the Merit Street Media network.

The company is already accepting reservations to attend Dr. Phil's new show in person.

Merit Street Media doesn't list an address just yet, but the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reported the new studio is located in the Alliance area of far north Fort Worth, off Interstate 35W.

McGraw announced the launch of Merit Street Media over the weekend, saying the network will be "dedicated to bringing viewers essential news and entertainment," including the new "Dr. Phil Primetime."

McGraw made the decision earlier this year for his daytime "Dr. Phil" show to end after its 21st season. But he noted, "there is so much more I wish to do."

In a press release Saturday, McGraw said his new network and show will "stand strong and fight for the very soul and sanity of America and get things that matter back on track."

His primetime show will follow a familiar format for longtime views. McGraw still plans to "offer his no-nonsense advice to guests and viewers," the release said.

"I absolutely love talking to real people about real problems," McGraw said. "People who aren't just complaining but are actively looking for real solutions to better their lives."

McGraw made his debut on the daytime show scene in the late 1990s as a regular guest on "The Oprah Winfrey Show." In 2002, "Dr. Phil" began airing and received the highest ratings of any new syndicated show since "The Oprah Winfrey Show."

McGraw is no stranger to North Texas. He earned his doctorate in clinical psychology from the University of North Texas in 1979, when it was known as North Texas State. McGraw also spent time in Wichita Falls, which is about two hours northwest of Dallas.
