Crash at Sherwood Way intersection sends motorcyclist to hospital

The motorcyclist was taken to Shannon Medical Center with unknown injuries.

SAN ANGELO, Texas — At approximately noon Thursday, San Angelo Police officers were dispatched to the intersection of Sherwood Way and Sunset Drive in reference to a major vehicle crash.

The collision involved a car and a motorcycle. San Angelo Fire Department arrived on scene and began administering first aid to the rider of the motorcycle, a 45-year-old man. 

He was taken to Shannon Medical Center with unknown injuries.

The driver of the car was identified as an 85-year-old woman. She was not injured in the crash.

SAPD’s Motor Division arrived on scene to assist with investigation of the crash. The car was traveling on Sherwood Way attempting to turn southbound on Sunset Drive as the motorcycle was traveling eastbound on Sherwood Way when the motorcycle collided with the back right corner of the car.

The driver of the car was cited for failing to yield right of way while turning left and was released on scene.

This crash is currently under investigation and more information will be released at a later time.
