UPDATE: San Angelo PD: Suspect is believed to have left the area

Update: The Blackshear neighborhood alert has been cancelled as police believe the suspect has left the area.

SAN ANGELO, Texas — Update (9:19 p.m., Mar. 11): The San Angelo Police Department has canceled the Blackshear neighborhood alert.

According to an SAPD Nixle alert, the suspect is believed to have left the area and residents are no longer in danger.

Anyone with information about Nelson Estrada's whereabouts is asked to contact the police at 325-657-4315. If anyone encounters Estrada, they are asked to call 9-1-1.

The San Angelo Police Department is warning residents near the 2400 block of Lillie Street of a wanted felon fleeing from police. 

According to an SAPD Nixle alert, Nelson Estrada, 32, is fleeing from police and was last seen near eastbound of the Nueva Vista Apartment, 2400 block of Lillie Street.

Estrada is on foot and may be armed with a handgun.

Estrada is 5 feet 5 inches, 165 lbs, with brown eyes, black hair and was last seen wearing a black shirt and blue jean shorts.

Residents who live in the area are asked to remain indoors and secure their residence.

Estrada has warrants for arrest for unauthorized use of motor vehicle and unlawful possession firearm by felon. 

If anyone sees the suspect call 9 -1-1

The SAPD is reminding residents to never try to apprehend a suspect themselves because it could be dangerous.

There could be a reward for information that leads to his arrest.
