ABILENE, Texas — Former Congressman Beto O’Rourke is making a stop in Abilene for a book signing appearance this weekend.
The author of We’ve Got to Try: How the Fight for Voting Rights Makes Everything Else Possible, will be in Abilene promoting voter registration and voting rights from 1-3 p.m. Sunday, May 5, at Texas Star Trading Company, 174 Cypress St.
The book signing is part of a statewide tour for the paperback edition of We’ve Got to Try. The hardcover edition was released in 2022.
Members of the McMurry University Political Awareness Club will be manning a voter registration table at the non-partisan event.
O’Rourke will speak and take a few questions before signing copies of the book, which can be reserved in advance by calling Texas Star Trading at 325-672-9696 or emailing info@texasstartrading.com.
O’Rourke, former congressman from El Paso, ran unsuccessfully for senator in 2018 and governor in 2022.
