Truck crashes into Fort Worth church after woman tries to jump into it, police say

The woman and the driver wrestled for control of the truck, but the vehicle eventually crashed into the entryway of the church, police said.

FORT WORTH, Texas — A pickup truck crashed into a Fort Worth church after a woman tried to jump through the window of the truck and take control of it, police said.

The incident unfolded around 1:30 a.m. Friday outside of the Sunshine Church of God in Christ in the 4400 block of East Rosedale Street.

Police at the scene told WFAA that officers were heading to the area after a calls about a woman knocking on doors. Before police arrived, the woman reportedly stood in the street and waved down a pickup truck driver.

When the truck approached her and the driver rolled down the window, the woman tried to jump through the window and take control of the truck, police said.

The woman and the driver wrestled for control of the truck, but the vehicle eventually crashed into the entryway of the church, police said.

Both the woman and the driver were taken to John Peter Smith Hospital for treatment. Their conditions weren't known early Friday, though police said their injuries were non-life threatening.

Footage from the scene showed a badly damaged Ford pickup truck and a busted brick wall near the front door of the church.
